The Accursed

From Kent, England. The Accursed released a couple demos, a few LPs and an EP between '82 and '84. This is probably one of the sloppiest bands who played. But I can't figure out why I like them so much. Their first 2 LPs were sloppy but good. And the last EP and LP seemed to be sloppy in an organized way. And I don't think anyone else has pulled this off. The last LP (Laughing at You) is a half studio album from '84 and a half live album from Holland in '83. I highly recommend this band.

Aggressive Punk LP

Up With the Punks LP

Laughing At You... LP

Going Down EP

If you can get past the total chaos of their musicianship ( Philip Glass' shifting emphasis on beats in the time signature springs to mind - the snare can be playing on 2 and 4, and then switch to 1 and 3 a few seconds later ), and you like your punk dark, then is for you. The first album is a moody, chaotic affair with over long and repetitive songs. 'Up with the punks' gives us no less chaos but better songwriting and superb guitar playing. 'Hammerhead' for instance seems to have all three members playing three different versions simultaneously, but somehow it works. I never heard their later stuff, so I thank you for uploading this, and more importantly, thanks for letting me know that I'm not the only person who loved this brilliant band.
